This all started because none of us wanted to take our own cars to Le Mans.
We decided that the right thing to do would be to chip in to get the best car we could for £500. The only limiting factor was that the car had to have style.
There was a great deal of discussion about what to get, and we nearly went with a big, old Jag. Then somebody suggested we buy a black cab, and a couple of days and less that £350 later, we had our very own very hackneyed Hackney carriage.
With a top speed of 55mph, and more ailments than your local primary healthcare trust, there was clearly much to be done before driving it thousands of miles. Cue the fixing up, and tricking out.
We don’t know if we’ll make it, but we’re going to make sure we enjoy trying. We’ll update as regulary as we can, including once we’re en route. Stop by regularly to see how we’re getting on. (And visit our sponsors!)
Oh, and if anyone going to Le Mans spots a taxi and four upset gentlemen by the side of the road, please stop to help. We definitely won’t be insulted.
